TEMPE – The No. 17 Sun Devil men's tennis team (13-4, 2-1 Pac-12) fell at home in a close Pac-12 matchup with the No. 22 UCLA Bruins (8-2, 2-0 Pac-12) Friday evening at the Whiteman Tennis Center. The loss was just the second of the season at home for the Sun Devils and the first since a tight 4-3 loss against VCU on Mar. 12. ASU is now 10-2 at home.
Doubles
Bolla/Lerby were the first ones off the court, defeating UCLA's Tsolakyan/Bellamy 6-4 on court 3. After the Bruins won on court one, the doubles point was decided on court two when Rakotomalala/Ruehl defeated UCLA's Nanda/Baird 7-5.
Singles
Andrea Bolla was first off of the court, defeating UCLA's Ben Goldberg 7-5, 6-2 on court 4. The Sun Devils fell in the next three matches, but George Stoupe's victory over UCLA's Sam Feit (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) put the match on the line on the 6th and final court. The Sun Devils ultimately fell, 4-3, when Mathew Tsolakyan topped Christian Lerby in a three-set battle at No. 6.
